The Meaning of Easter Dena Blay-Stroba OCDS |
![]() |
| Since the middle of the first century,
the followers of Jesus commemorated his life death and resurrection. Over
the intervening centuries the liturgical seasons of Lent and Easter were
developed. Now they are celebrated by Christians all over the world. What
was celebrated then? How do we understand it now in the 21st
century? We will look at the stories, events, and processes that have so
profoundly influenced Christian theology and spiritual practice. Hopefully
we will find new relevance and meaning in these ancient mysteries. An interfaith
worship incorporating prayers and readings from several traditions will follow the talk. Jim Cooper's music will provide inspiration and meditative awareness. |
Dena Blay-Stroba,
OCDS, is the Dean of World Wisdom Tradions programs at Lakeshore Interfaith
Institute. A Lay Carmelite from the Catholic Tradition, she
is also a disciple of Swami Bhashyananda, a Hindu monk, who inspired the
formation of Mothers Trust and the Institute. |
