Lakeshore Interfaith Institute
welcomes you to noted environmental journalist, Kurt
Cobb, who will outline his view of how
humankind has come to the edge of environmental catastrophe and how we
can take measures to address this crisis by adjusting our own lives.
Religion has a great impact
on how humanity interacts with the great web of Nature and Mr Cobb will
make a proposal for a new religion based
on living in harmony with the rest of the natural world. He will also
lead a discussion on these issues with the congregation. Your feedback
is important. You are encouraged to lend your ideas to the discussion.
At 2pm
We will show the acclaimed
documentary, The
End of Suburbia". The end of cheap oil is coming.
Will the way of life that a majority of Americans have embraced come to
an end with it? Using wit and irony, this film explores the disturbing
prospects and possible solutions for our oil-dependent society as we approach
the day when oil supplies begin to decline worldwide - an event that many
geologists expect to happen within the next decade or two. Featuring
James Howard Kunstler. Approx. 78 minutes. A question &
answer session follows the film with environmental and natural resource
writer Kurt Cobb.
