JAZZ PERCUSSION DUO TO PERFORM

Friday, August 18th, 7:30pm Duo Drumophone The jazz percussion team, Duo Drumophone, will perform at The Lakeshore Interfaith Institute 6676 122nd St. in Ganges. The group features Milwaukee jazz drummer Dave Bayles and local vibraphonist Jim Cooper. Duo Drumophone performs an eclectic mix of jazz percussion duets. Dave Bayles lives in Milwaukee, WI and has worked with such jazz artists as Slide Hampton, Barry Harris, David Hazeltine, Brian Lynch, Jack McDuff, Bob Mintzer, Frank Morgan, James Moody, Melvin Rhyne and Ernie Watts. Dave performs at jazz clubs and music festivals throughout the Midwest. Dave's orchestral credits include timpani with the Rome (Italy) Festival Orchestra and percussion with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra. As a clinician for Yamaha Music Corporation and Zildjian Cymbals, he travels and teaches widely throughout the U.S. and Canada. Dave is Department Chair of Music Industry and Percussion at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music since 1997 and is a member of the Conservatory's We Six. Dave also teaches percussion at UW- Parkside in Kenosha, WI. Dave has taught at the Steve Wiest Jazz Camp, UW Whitewater Jazz Camp and Eastern IL University Jazz Camp. "It's great to be finally having Dave visiting from Milwaukee," says vibist Cooper. "Audiences should come out to hear him, hešs such a pleasure to work with." Bayles' gigs include Toulouse on Thursday night August 17th with the Jim Cooper Quartet also featuring pianist Steve Talaga and bassist Tom Lockwood, Friday nightšs Duo Drumophone performance and in Kalamazoo on Saturday night the 19th with the Dave Hay Trio.
