THE GOSPEL OF JESUS AND HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS
Dena Blay-Stroba,OCDS, is one of the Directors of the LakeShore
Interfaith Institute,
and a Secular Discalced Carmelite
in the Roman Catholic Tradition. She
has also studied world religions for
the past twenty years and has made
intensive studies of Vedanta under
the tutelage of Swami Bhashyananda,
past abbot of the Vivekananda Vedanta
Society
She will present a brief history of
Christianity with especial emphasis
on the mystical traditions, within
the broader context of the evolution
of human consciousness.
The presentation will survey the mystical
traditions of both the Hebrew
and the Christian faiths, showing
how Jesus exemplifies the mystical
relationship of the soul with the
Heavenly Father. It will explore how
the “good news” of the Gospels springs
out of this mystical well of
Unity (non-dual) Consciousness. The
life and teachings of Jesus will be
examined as the context of the spiritual
journey of the human soul to
divine realization through Union with
God.
Also considered will be how this context
can be relevant to our present
age, and how it may develop in the
future.
A lifelong student of Saint Teresa
of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and
St. Therese’ of Lisieux (all Doctors
of Mystical Theology of the
Church), Ms. Blay-Stroba will offer
examples and practical methods of
meditation and prayer from the 2000
year history of the Christian
tradition.
