Lakeshore Interfaith Institute/Mothers Trust, is honored to welcome Rabbi Michael Rascoe of Temple B'nai Shalom in Benton Harbor to address the congregation on the topic of the Teachings of The Jewish Sages  the Pirqei Avot.

Pirqei Avot (The Ethics of the Sages) holds quite a place in the Jewish tradition.  Traditionally, besides regular study as one of the tractates of Talmud, many Jews read it through four times from Pesah (Passover) to Rosh HaShanah (New Year).  The Talmud elsewhere says, “One who desires to be pious and virtuous must study and practice the maxims of Avot” (Bava Qama 30a).
Why did Pirqei Avot attract the sages and our ancestors?  The sayings.  Besides telling Jews to study, it also tells them to live life in a certain way.  Come explore some of these maxims from 1800-1900 years ago.  Questions encouraged.
