Discussion - Vedanta in the West

This is a new study program for 2010. In it, we will explore universality - that is, that quality in all things that tends to express the infinite nature of of the universe. The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda will be used as our springboard. The class is especially geared to individuals interested in how universality can be utilized and made practical in todays complex world. Individuals and groups from around the country and the world are welcome to participate!

GENERAL COURSE STRUCTURE: Our course facilitators are Swami Atmalokananda, Indra Makhija and Swami Tapasananda. In addition, we have several scholars of Swami Vivekananda's writings and talks. Each month, one talk or writing from Swami Vivekananda will be studied. Through in-house classes, online discussion and assignements, we will explore the various aspects of universality. A class at Mothers Trust will meet each month (usually the last Sunday of the month at 2pm). Then online discussion will follow until the next month. We start on April 25th with an introduction to the course.

Online discussion will be available 24 hours a day, where students can post questions or comments and where interaction between class participants can take place. Part of the monthly progression may include "chat" sessions, where students and staff will log on together to address a sub-topic for that month.
