Introduction to the Class...
Swami
Vivekananda is known to many but perhaps not his
unusual speaking and presenting style. Echoing the breadth of
love, vision and universal practices of his teachers, Sri
Ramakrishna and Sri
Sri Ma (Holy Mother, Sri Sarada Devi), he spoke to
all about many ways to truth. One night he might speak of the
love of God, the next night, on Karma Yoga. But whatever he spoke
about became the be-all and end-all, as if that path was the best,
as if that method was what he truly believed.
Vivekananda's capacity to see and experience different paths
touches on the concept of universality, as it is used in this
class. Universality is the quality in everything that tends towards
the infinite and draws all things together. Understood and practiced,
it colors the world with tolerance, acceptance and love..
The class will meet once a month, usually the last Sunday, at
2pm. Please come!
The class is available to all. Study the site for a better sense
of how its structured and how it will run from month to month.
The site is also a work in progress! We'll go on making changes
and adding details as time goes on. Special features right now
include a class discussion group, a place to post items of interest
and various reference pages. Other features will be added soon.
We will have participants online from around the country and elsewhere,
including teachers and experts in various fields of spirituality
and philosophy.
