11am | The civilization of Polynesia, including that of Hawaii, developed mystical arts to a high degree. They were able to perform miracles of healing. This was done through observation of consciousness and the energies it controls--much as was done by the rishis of ancient and modern India. In Hawaii all this ancient knowledge was apparently lost with the Americanization of the islands and the entrenchment of the missionaries. Max Freedom Long, an American teacher in Honolulu, was determined that the old knowledge be preserved. He mastered the language and pored over the old texts, which are still preserved in the Baker museum. He reconstructed what he called Huna or the hidden knowledge. (A kahuna is a keeper of hidden knowledge). In 1948 he published The Secret Science Behind Miracles. He founded Huna Research Inc to test and carry on his work. It is now based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. |
