Unity With God Through Love
Mira Kerr of Yogaville ,Virginia
Sunday June 5, 11 AM
Lakeshore Interfaith Institute
6676 122nd Ave, Ganges, Mi.
Ms. Kerr will talk about one of the principle spiritual paths of
Hinduism , the Path of Devotion to God. This path is said to be the
easiest and most suitable method for the present era. It involves
taking the very basic human emotion of love and directing it towards
the Divine .
"Bhakti" is a Sanscrit word that means " love for God"  The Sanscrit
word"yoga" , means in the English language, "to join together". The
English word "yoke" is derived from the Sanscrit "yoga". There are
many forms of yoga  in India and the  familiar yoga of postures called
"Hatha Yoga" is only one among several.
The use of music is an important part of Bhakti Yoga. In India most
music is of a devotional nature, to the extent that music itself is
said to be a yoga. There are many Indian saints whose principal
spiritual practice was composing and singing songs to God. Mira Bhai
was a famous woman bhakti saint in ancient India, who attained unity
> with Lord Krishna through ecstatic devotional singing .
Our presenter was given "Mira" as a spiritual name, by her
teacher, the late Swami Satchidananda, founder of the Integral Yoga
Institute in Virginia. [www.yogaville.org]
She gave up a promising career as a recording artist to dedicate her
> life to learning and teaching yoga and devotional singing .
The talk will be followed at 1PM by an Interfaith Worship led by The
Reverend Joan Morris . A vegetarian potluck will follow the service.
From 2-4PM, Mira Kerr will offer a hatha yoga workshop involving the
more familiar yoga postures that induce relaxation flexibility and
general well being. She has selected yoga postures and meditative
techniques that can be practiced by anyone regardless of age or body
structure. This class at 2PM is 20.00
