PEAK OIL AND GLOBAL
WARMING JOIN KURT COBB for an interactive
presentation on the twin perils of the coming decades
Cheap oil is coming to an end. Within the next decade or
two world oil production is likely to reach a peak and then begin an
irreversible decline. The end of cheap oil threatens to stall and even
reverse economic growth worldwide. This could lead to profound disruptions
in our way of life, especially in the areas of transportation and food
production. How will we deal with the coming oil crisis and the needed
energy transition? Will these disruptions prevent us from dealing with the
other great problem associated with the oil age, global warming? Will we
choose to prolong our dependence on hydrocarbons such as
coal and risk the future of our children and grandchildren? Or can we
choose a path that both solves global warming and leads to a future based
on clean, renewable energy?
